Intimate partner violence and gun violence are inextricably linked, impacting millions of women, families, and communities across the country. In fact, a woman is five times more likely to be murdered when her abuser has access to a gun. In DC and surrounding areas, increasing rates of gun violence are staggering and we must ensure that abusers do not have access to firearms. Every gun that’s taken out of an abuser’s hand creates a safer home. And safe homes build safe communities.
Please join us on Wednesday, May 1st to learn how DCVLP is addressing the intersection of gun violence and domestic violence in our community and to honor Senator Amy Klobuchar as DCVLP’s 2024 Champion of Justice. Senator Klobuchar has long been a leader in Congress advocating for legislation that protects domestic violence victims and that prevents gun violence. We are also pleased to recognize Crowell & Moring LLP as our Pro Bono Partner of the Year for their ongoing partnership and commitment to serving DCVLP clients.
