Volunteer Legal Advocates is proud to support public interest law fellows passionate about using their legal skills to advocate for survivors and vulnerable children. Our fellowship program offers hands-on experience, including trial advocacy, while helping low-income individuals achieve safety and stability.

Depending on the needs of Volunteer Legal Advocates and the interest area of the fellow, fellows may receive extensive litigation training before representing domestic violence survivors in family law cases, which may involve discovery, motions and trial preparation. Fellows may also advocate for the best interests of children living with abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and worse as court-appointed Guardians ad litem. Fellows may also represent survivors of domestic or gender-based violence in humanitarian immigration processes, including but not limited to asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U visas, or Violence Against Women Act (“VAWA”) self-petitions.

The Volunteer Legal Advocates seeks public interest law fellows to learn to be a voice in court for domestic violence victims and at-risk children.
