Join DC Volunteer Lawyers Project (DCVLP) for a comprehensive full-day workshop to prepare volunteer attorneys to serve as Guardians ad litem (GAL) in our Child Advocacy Program (CAP). This training provides essential legal knowledge, skills, and strategies to advocate for vulnerable children in court. Attendees will learn how to represent children’s best interests in cases involving abuse, neglect, and other child welfare matters. No prior experience in litigation or family law is required—just a commitment to protecting the rights and safety of children in need.

Attorneys are invited to attend as many sessions as your schedule allows:

Session 1: Child Advocacy 101 (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
Lunch: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
Session 2: Special Guest, Judge Steven Wellner from the Superior Court of the District of Columbia (1:00 PM – 1:30 PM)
Session 3: Office of the Attorney General Child Abuse & Neglect Training (1:30 PM – 3:00 PM)
