In Solidarity
DC Volunteer Lawyers Project stands in solidarity with others across the country during this time of continued violence against the Black community. As advocates for victims of domestic violence and at-risk children, we are against violence and abuse perpetrated by those who are in power — whether it be in the home or in the community.
Power-based violence does not occur in a vacuum. We cannot be authentic advocates without acknowledging and helping to break down the racist systemic barriers that oppress communities of color, including many of our clients.
We are committed to learning from, listening to, and standing with Black leaders in our community. We stand together, as active allies, with our clients, staff members, volunteers, partners, and the entire Black community.
